Our directive at Eden Village Prep is to keep the school small and personal, in order to create an environment where staff get to know all of the pupils, and where pupils feel safe, secure and free to express themselves. Limited to 2 classes per grade, our smaller class of 14 pupils, are especially suited to pupils who present with specific short-term barriers to learning.
Leap classes are carefully structured to teach pupils with an average to above average IQ to understand, accept and overcome (leap over) their specific, short-term barriers to learning.
Our close partnership with Eden Health and various educational specialists, also based on the Eden Village campus, are focussed on effectively guiding our pupils and their parents through this unique learning and development process.
We firmly believe that early intervention produces the best results for pupils with specific learning difficulties, as well as relieving the pressure from parents as they confront these new circumstances and support their children through their ongoing development.
Our principal objective is to enable pupils to overcome their specific learning difficulties within a 2-3 year timeframe, whilst uplifting their sense of self-worth and confidence, after which they will be capable of transitioning into a mainstream educational environment. We believe firmly in a system of Inclusion, where children in both streams associate regularly, teaching pupils to respect each other’s capabilities and enabling them to form friendships that stretch beyond academics into sport, arts and social interaction.
At Eden Village Prep we offer LEAP classes from Grade-2 through to Grade-6, after which we transition pupils into our mainstream classes where they are gently acclimatised to learning in a more conventional environment. We find that this shift is relatively smooth considering the familiarity of all staff and fellow pupils at Eden Village Prep.
